Creative Tensions

The exploration of opposites is a theme that runs through much of architectural practice; inside & outside, public & private, solidity & lightness, natural & fabricated (and particularly in our work – historic & contemporary). The grey area between the two poles offers a creatively fertile opportunity for analysis; one of hard thresholds and vague ambiguous middle-grounds.

Last weekend some of the architects from FCBS undertook some drawing exercises that attempted to express some of the delight, or even discomfort, that can be found when opposites collide.

Enjoy!

Thanks Richard Battye for the photography – all copyright belongs to him and FCBStudios.
